Freesitesignup: Is This A Scam?

By Sylvie Strong

I want to warn the Qondio community about Freesitesignup. This is an affiliate program that has been marketed heavily. When I got suckered in, I was completely new to online marketing. I'm no expert, but in the two months since I quit the program I have learned a great deal. If I had not been a newcomer I would never have considered joining.

I don't think Freesitesignup is necessarily a scam. I don't have evidence that they are actually committing fraud. But in my opinion they do not provide value for the money that you are paying them and they do not measure up to their promises. If you are new to affiliate marketing you will waste time and money that would be better spent working on genuine affiliate marketing programs or other kinds of programs to make money online.

Freesitesignup tells you that you can have 35 "moneymaking sites" for only $8.95. These sites have supposedly been tested and proven to make 20k-40k each a year. They also tell you that they will give you a free domain, they will host the websites and they will give you complete training and ongoing coaching.

I am not easily fooled, and thought their income figures might be a little inflated. But I was still intrigued. 35 websites, and just one of them could make over $20k a year? So I bit.

I paid them $8.95. They will give you 35 websites...but wait, they will charge you another approximately $100 in 30 days for one year of hosting. That is an annual fee you be required to pay. Also, although they give you a generic domain to house all of your 35 website templates, you also learn that they strongly encourage you to register a separate niche-specific domain. So you will end up forking out domain fees for each niche depending on how many you end up pursuing.

When I first saw the 35 websites, I thought they looked good. This was because I was a completely newcomer. Months later it is obvious that anyone could create a better site in less than an hour on Wordpress or any of the other programs out there. I now create nice sites using Sandvox for Mac.

The Freesitesignup sites center on a variety of niches. The first 4-5 sites are based on getting you to sell Freesitesignup itself. There are a number of other niches such as debt relief, green energy, spanish and french language courses, dating, weight loss, etc. Some of the niches are really worrisome. For instance, they have an e-book that is supposed to teach people how to become taller. They also market books on H20 conversion so that you can convert your gas-burning cars to run on water. I wouldn't want to be involved in products that may be scams.

Their training is a series of videos and written materials. Although it was all new to me at the time, I have found lots of better and free sources of training since then. Moreover, they tell you that they are going to give you one one one coaching and they ask that you send them periodic written status updates. But whenever I sent them a status update they responded a few days later with a boilerplate response just thanking me.

The biggest problem with the Freesitesignup product is that the 35 websites are facile landing sites that anyone could create easily. Finding the niches isn't terribly hard either and a few searches on Clickbank would get you the products. In my opinion, the training is not that great. So what exactly are you paying for? They are giving you hosting services but at a higher price than many hosting services you could get.

In fact, as part of their training Freesitesignup tells you that you should attach a Wordpress blog to every one of their websites. The blog should contains 10-12 unique articles and you should add 2 articles a week to it. They also think you should write 5 ezinearticles at the get go and add 1 more every week. They tell you that this is for long term search engine optimization and traffic, but I believe the real reason is because otherwise Google will not even index Freesitesignup's sites because they are duplicative. I did all of these things, yet the Google Adsense program only let my pay per click ads run for 3 days before it suspended them because of the low quality of my landing page. Moreover, there was such a low conversion rate that I lost $300 before I gave up.

I do not mind the money I lost with Freesitesignup so much as the time and effort. I am on a much healthier footing now with my online business. I write this intel with the hope that I can dissuade you from making my mistakes.

If you learned what not to do then it was a good investment of time and money. It would only be a waste if you didn't learn anything.

Most people will figure out how to make their own mistakes and that is part of the learning curve online.

Thank you. You are absolutely right. Better yet if these predators did not exist. There is plenty of money to be made without cheating other people.

Better yet if these predators did not exist.

There are people who expend a tremendous amount of energy trying to change things they cannot change. I don't waste and ounce of energy doing this anymore.

Remember the Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

This applies to Internet Marketing. Just accept the fact that the Internet is full of predators (many in sheep's clothing)

Deal with it. Be on guard for it. Use it to your advantage, neutralize it or avoid it.

Scam baiting is an example of how to turn SCAM into Scamanade, but unless you have the time and are into that kind of thing I would just focus on your objective and move positively towards what you wish to accomplish online.

The number one rule: When investigating a new opportunity and you get to the point where you have to part with cash Stop! Think
